International Thespian Society Troupe 2838
The International Thespian Society (Troupe 2838) is an internationally recognized honor society for the theater student. The goal is to reward and promote exceptional service to theater arts at the high school level. The purpose of this troupe shall be the advancement of standards of excellence in the theater.
A student may apply for induction after he/she has completed a total of 100 hours of service (10 points) in a high school-sponsored theater activity and is enrolled in /or has completed Theater Workshop 2. The theater director/advisor will determine the exact number of points to be awarded in all on-stage and backstage capacities as suggested by the point system of the International Thespian Honor Society.
Active Thespian members who have continued their service by completing an additional 70 hours per year since inductions may be rewarded with a graduation cord after applying. An induction ceremony takes place once a year. Elections for executive officers take place once a year and criteria for executive service will be outlined at our meetings.

Thespian Policy for GRADUATION CORDS! UPDATED At our last meeting a poll was taken and both sides of the graduation cord issue were discussed. The 2016 and newly elected 2017 board BOTH voted to raise the Honor Thespian requirement from 5 points per year to 7 effective starting September 2016. Please read full policy below. Please note that seniors must still apply for a Graduation Cord yearly. Thespians must have completed a minimum of 7 Thespian points per year (points do not carry over from year to year) in order to become an Honor Thespian and receive a cord at graduation.. Remember, you must fill out a Thespian Cord application yearly in order to receive your graduation cord. Newly inducted seniors will now need 15 points to obtain an Honor graduation cord (10 to be inducted).________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Inductions were held on May 25th! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The executive board of the International Thespian Society proudly announces a new production that will showcase the long form improvisational talents of the upper level acting classes at Hewlett in an evening event called In the Spotlight which will be presented on Wednesday March 2nd at 6:00pm in the Little Theater. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Please join us to watch dynamic performers create characters and dialogue ‘on the spot’ in our new production of “In the Spotlight.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Hewlett Theater Company presents Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice on Feb 3rd-6th! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ An enormously successful Improv Olympics was held on October 29th in the Little Theater, sponsored by the International Thespian Society, our honor society for theater students. On May 16th the International Thespian Society proudly welcomed 20 new members to troupe 2838. Students earn membership by gaining points for participating in various theater activities such as the Hewlett Theater Company productions, the High School Musical, Theater Class showcases, Thespian performance events and the Senior Theater Project One-Acts. The goal of Thespian Society is to provide opportunities for performance events in educational theater and to honor students who have dedicated themselves to theatrical work - onstage and backstage- at the high school.
